Famous Temples near Shantiniketan in Birbhum district, West Bengal

There are several famous and beautiful tramples are located in Birbhum district, West Bengal. Some of them are:-

Tarapith Temple- Temple of Maa Tara:
Tarapith is one of 52 Shakti Pithas spotted across all over India. It is one of the sacred places where the eye ball (Tara) of Sati fell. Tarapith is approximately 96 km from Bolpur Santiniketan. Thousands of devotees and visitors visit everyday.

Nalhateshwari Temple- Temple of Maata Nalhateswari:
Nalhateshwari Temple is situated at Nalhati town in Birbhum district. The place is very close to Tarapith. Nalhati is connected by Panagarh-Moregram road. The place is situated near Nalhati Railway station. The town Nalhati is named after Nalhateshwari Temple, one of the Shakti Pithas in India. It is believed that Nala (throat) of Sati fell at the place. 

Another belief is that it was Lalat (forehead) that fell there. Nalhateshwari Temple is one of the 52 Shakti Pithas where parts of Sati’s body fell. Frequent bus and train services are available. The temple id dedicated to the Kali, form of Goddess Devi. A number of visitors visit there throughout the year.
